Premier Zhu Starts Visit to Five Asian Nations

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji left Beijing Friday morning for an official visit to five Asian nations -- Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Zhu is expected to discuss with leaders of the countries bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern, so as to consolidate China's traditional friendship with those countries and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Zhu's entourage include his wife Lao An, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Shi Guangsheng and officials from the State Economic and Trade Commission, Export-Import Bank of China.
