China Sets Up First Transplanted Liver Patient Association
A transplanted liver patient association was officially set up Thursday in Tianjin, a municipality neighboring Beijing.
The association, with dozens of new members, is believed to be the first of its kind in China.
China is a region with a high incidence of liver diseases, especially hepatitis and liver cancer. Every year about half of the world's deaths from liver diseases occur in China.
According to experts, so far the best treatment and cure for late liver disease patients is still a liver transplant, which Chinese doctors have already been able to complete successfully.
