China to Host WBA Boxing Title Match Involving Holyfield
China will host the first-ever World Boxing Association (WBA) title match in Beijing, involving Evander Holyfield, probably on August 4.
Promoter Don King is expected to reveal the plan in New York on Monday for the fight between Holyfield and WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz, and will leave for China to map out the details of the title fight.
It will be the third fight between the two heavyweights in a year, and the first to be held in China, with Holyfield winning the first in August and Ruiz taking the title in March.
The China bout was originally scheduled on June 30, but was delayed after Holyfield lost to Ruiz. At the moment, the date of the fight was yet to be set, with concerned sides eyeing August 4 as the working date.
