No Lumbering But for Orchid Raising by a TibetanThe Lisu Autonomous County of Weixi, Yunnan Province, is known for over hundred rare orchid varieties grown in wilderness as the "Land of Orchids" of China. However, many farmers began to dig up wild orchids for sale since a ban was placed on natural wood lumbering two years ago. While Dawa, a Tibetan lumberman, sold his properties to buy orchids and made himself simply a floriculturist of orchids. These have come by now to a market worth of over million yuan but not a single blade of the flower has he sold. He wants to build a large orchid nursery, with more new orchid rarities raised, to create a happy enjoyable sight of the flower. |  |
