Macao SAR's Customs to Go into Operation

Choi Lai Hang, head of Macao SAR's Customs, lately said that Macao SAR Customs will formally go into operation this September. At present, the project of the Customs Building has been completed in the main, by then it will be put into use.

The official indicated that the work of establishing Macao SAR's Customs is proceeding in an orderly way. The Customs Law will soon be submitted to the Legislation Council for deliberation and approval, once this law is adopted, the customs house will formally go into operation.

Future Macao SAR Customs is established on the basis of the original Marine and Customs Police of Macao and by integrating it with some other specialized departments. Choi Lai Hang said that the Macao SAR government is making great efforts to improve the qualities of Customs staff. And he also expressed his wishes to learn from the experiences of customs departments in other regions, in order to make the customs house a clean and efficient department.
