E-Port to Open Soon in East China's Jiangxi

Enterprises in east China's Jiangxi Province will soon be able to handle various export procedures on their computers, with the start of an electronic port system on June 1.

Officials from the Nanchang customs said the system will facilitate customs clearance as well as other operations in the future.

The E-port system of Jiangxi is part of a national program dubbed "China E-Ports." It aims to improve the efficiency of foreign trade through the linking of data centers of the banks, customs, foreign trade, taxation and eight other authorities.

The authorities also hope that the sharing of information from different departments will help root out smugglers and export rebate frauds using false documents.

Similar systems have been tested in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and are expected to be operational in Anhui Province on June 1.
