China Holds Seminar on Internal-Combustion Engine

An international exhibition and seminar on the internal-combustion engine was held Tuesday in Shanghai, the largest industrial and commercial city of China.

The world's major automobiles and auto parts producers, including Volkswagen and Volvo, attended the event which was sponsored by the China Diesel Locomotive Industry Association.

"The huge market potential for automobiles will greatly boom the demand for internal-combustion engines, so, China is providing an unprecedented opportunity for world internal-combustion providers," said Jim Clarke from Ford Motors.

According to Clarke, improvement in internal-combustion technologies will largely decrease the exhaustion of auto pollutants and thus do great benefit to the environment.

Last year China alone produced 1.81 million internal-combustion engines and experts estimate that this year the China market will demand as many as 2.37 million such engines.
