Airport in South Hunan Opened for Operation

Lingling Airport in Yongzhou City in the southern region of central Hunan Province was opened Tuesday.

The opening of the airport, for both civil and military services, increases the number of airports in the province with civil aviation services to four, and alters the original unbalanced distribution of airports, sources said.

An expansion project began on the airport in October 1996, and was completed at the end of the last year.

The airport has now opened two air services from Changsha, capital of the province to Yongzhou, and from Changsha to Yongzhou to Haikou, capital of the southern island province of Hainan.
