U.S. Ouster from UNHRC Proves its Isolation: Sudanese Minister

A senior Sudanese official said on Saturday that the U.S. ouster from the Geneva-based United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) has indicated its isolation from the mainstream of human rights issues.

Speaking to the Sudanese News Agency, Sudanese Minister of External Relations Mustafa Othman Ismail said that the ouster of the U.S. from the UNHRC is an unequivocal message that it should reconsider its human rights policies.

There should be cooperation among different cultures and civilizations so that the world may enjoy security, peace and stability, he said, adding that it is very difficult for any single country to seek hegemony over all the global affairs.

The Sudanese minister also urged the U.S. administration to carefully ponder on the results of former U.S. administrations' policies and unjust resolutions.

On Thursday, the U.S. was voted off from the 53-member human rights commission in a secret ballot, the first ever since the commission was founded in 1947.
