Chaozhou: World's Biggest Wedding Gown, Evening Dress Producer
Chaozhou in south China's Guangdong province, has become the world's biggest producer of wedding gowns and evening dresses.
The ancient city with a population of 2.4 million and the home to 565 garment factories, produces 5.4 billion yuan worth of garments each year, including wedding gowns and evening dresses.
The Mingrui Group, one of the leading garment produces in the region, produces 150,000 wedding gowns and 400,000 fashion dresses annually in recent years.
It is now one of the leading producers of first-class evening dresses, wedding gowns and personal adornments, accounting for one tenth of the world's market shares.
An international design competition for wedding gowns and evening dresses was held here at the end of last month.
