S. African Party Calls for End to U.S. Monopoly in Middle East Peace ProcessA South African political party Thursday urged an end to the United States' "monopoly" on the Middle East Peace Process.U.S.' role should be replaced by a more neutral international body and an observer force should be sent to the Palestinian territories to protect the Palestinians from Israeli atrocities, said the South Africa Communist Party in a statement. The statement welcomed the meeting on Palestine by the Non- Aligned Movement (NAM) in Pretoria, saying the meeting would help promote the Palestinian cause. The meeting, opened in Pretoria earlier on Thursday, was called by the NAM Committee on Palestine to discuss the Middle East peace efforts and how the NAM could play a role in helping promote the peace process. |
