China's Top Union Leader Meets Japanese GuestsWei Jianxing, president of the All- China Federation of Trade Unions, Wednesday urged the Japanese side to seriously handle issues concerning the history and Taiwan to prevent the healthy growth of Sino-Japanese friendship from being affected in the new century.Wei, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stressed that these issues of fundamental importance to bilateral ties. Wei made the remarks in a meeting with a delegation of the labor union of the Japanese Fujitsu Corporation led by Matsuoka Haruo. He said China and Japan are friendly neighbors and the exchanges between their labor union organizations also have a long history. As a renowned labor union in Japan, and the Fujitsu Corporation union organization has carried out cultural, educational and other exchanges with Chinese labor unions for a long time, and has contributed to the people-to-people friendship between China and Japan. Wei hoped such exchanges and cooperation could be enhanced in the new century. Matsuoka told Wei that he and his organization will continue to make efforts for substantive exchanges between workers and trade unions between the two countries.
