Bush picks new envoy to ChinaUS President George W. Bush on Monday nominated Clark Randt as ambassador to China, the White House said.White House spokesman Ari Fleischer announced the nomination at a regular daily briefing. Randt, 55, earned a law degree from the University of Michigan in 1975 and is a partner in the law firm of Shearman & Sterling. Randt has lived in the Asia-Pacific region for most of his adult life and is fluent in Mandarin. In 1982, he was first secretary and commercial attache at the US Embassy in Beijing. |
