Argentine Football Players Begin Strike

Argentine football players grouped into syndicate of FAA (Argentine Football Guild) began on

Tuesday a strike, protesting a delay of payments.

The decision was taken by "unanimity" at a gathering held on Monday evening, in which the players considered "insufficient" the economic offer made by authorities to try and stop the forceful measure.

Sources near negotiation said that authorities of AFA

( Argentine Football Association) offered to pay 25 percent of the debt the clubs keep with players, that comes to 100 million dollars.

The stirke will affect first, second and third division football, but doesn't include games for "Liberators of America Cup " which will be played this week by the following teams: Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, River Plate and Rosario Central.

Nonetheless, the football players gave May 16th, date of quarter-final games of Liberators Cup, as limit date for a general strike.
