Frenchman Christophe Legout was the other seeded casualty in men's singles, losing in five sets to Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro on Tuesday. Chinese reigning Olympic champion Kong Linghui dropped a set in his 3-1 win over Czech qualifier Marek Klasek. Defending world champion Liu Guoliang joined his best friend Kong in the second round, beating Hungarian Lehel Demeter 3-0. Other Chinese Ma Lin, Liu Guozheng and Yan Sen also advanced.
