China's CPPCC Chairman Arrives in Ankara

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), arrived in Ankara Monday to continue his four-day official goodwill visit to Turkey.

Turkey is the last leg of Li's four-nation tour, which has taken him to Mauritius, South Africa and Morocco. Prior to his arrival here, Li had visited Istanbul.

In Istanbul, Li addressed local entrepreneurs, urging them to expand exchange and cooperation with their Chinese counterparts and explore the great potential of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Sino-Turkish trade volume hit 1.2 billion U.S. dollars last year, up 76 percent from a year earlier.

Li said that China's upcoming entry into the World Trade Organization and the country's efforts to develop its vast western areas bring huge opportunities for foreign investors.

He urged Turkish business people to invest in China, saying that the Chinese government will offer preferential treatment and necessary assistance.
