Foreign Trade of Overseas-Funded Enterprises

Following are facts and figures about trade volumes of enterprises with overseas investment in China from January to February 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

-- Total trade volume of enterprises with overseas investment: 35.407 billion U.S. dollars, up 21.5 percent from the same period last year. Exports, 18.116 billion U.S. dollars, up 26.8 percent; imports, 17.291 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.3 percent.

-- Total trade volume of Chinese-foreign contractual joint ventures: 2.388 billion U.S. dollars, down 0.3 percent. Exports, 1. 326 billion U.S. dollars, up 4.1 percent; imports, 1.062 billion U. S. dollars, down 5.4 percent.

-- Total trade volume of Chinese-foreign equity joint ventures: 15.527 billion U.S. dollars, up 19 percent. Exports, 7.372 billion U.S. dollars, up 22.3 percent; imports, 8.155 billion U.S. dollars, up 16.1 percent.

-- Total trade volume of solely foreign-funded enterprises: 17. 491 billion U.S. dollars, up 27.7 percent. Exports, 9.417 billion U.S. dollars, up 34.9 percent; imports, 8.074 billion U.S. dollars, up 20.1 percent.
