Set of Chariot, Harnesses Unearthed in Hunan ProvinceA complete set of chariot and harnesses, as well as other nine weapons, have been unearthed from tombs of the Warring States Period £¨475-221BC£© in Changtang Village, Yiyang City, central China's Hunan Province.Such chariot and harnesses are very rare in Hunan Province. Archeologists excavated seven tombs and found a complete set of chariot and harnesses in one tomb six meters long and 4.5 meters wide. The occupant of the tomb was believed to be a nobleman of that time because he had chariots and horses when he went out for official business. Archeologists have discovered many sites of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty£¨770-221BC£© and a lot of tombs of the Chu State of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in Jichang port in Yiyang City. The discovery led them to regard the port as a military base of the Chu State for defending the aboriginal from the upper reaches of the Zijiang River who did not surrender. The discovery provides new evidence for the viewpoint.
