Foreign Trade of China's SEZs

Following are figures about the foreign trade volume of China's five special economic zones (SEZs) from January to February 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

Shenzhen SEZ -- total, 5.008 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.1 percent from the same period last year; exports, 2.385 billion U.S. dollars, up 12.3 percent; imports, 2.623 billion U.S. dollars, up 15.8 percent.

Xiamen SEZ -- total, 1.078 billion U.S. dollars, up 9.8 percent; exports, 656.233 million U.S. dollars, up 12.5 percent; imports, 421.642 million U.S. dollars, up 5.8 percent.

Zhuhai SEZ -- total, 1.248 billion U.S. dollars, up 37.5 percent; exports, 398.379 million U.S. dollars, up 9.9 percent; imports, 849.121 million U.S. dollars, up 55.8 percent.

Shantou SEZ -- total, 351.900 million U.S. dollars, down 52.5 percent; exports, 141.921 million U.S. dollars, down 73.9 percent; imports, 209.979 million U.S. dollars, up 6.6 percent.

Hainan SEZ -- total, 210.542 million U.S. dollars, up 15.2 percent; exports 138.011 million U.S. dollars, up 31.7 percent; imports, 72.531 million U.S. dollars, down 7.1 percent.
