Facts and Figures: Foreign Trade of China's Major Coastal Cities

Following are facts and figures about trade volumes of China's major coastal cities from January to February 2001, provided by the General Administration of Customs:

-- Shanghai: 8.133 billion U.S. dollars, up 13.5 percent from the same period last year. Exports, 3.947 billion U.S. dollars, up 25.2 percent; imports, 4.186 billion U.S. dollars, up 4.4 percent.

-- Guangzhou: 3.006 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.4 percent. Exports, 1.500 billion U.S. dollars, up 3.5 percent; imports,1.506 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.3 percent.

-- Tianjin: 2.923 billion U.S. dollars, up 25 percent. Exports, 1.627 billion U.S. dollars, up 28.8 percent; imports, 1.296 billion U.S. dollars, up 20.5 percent.

-- Dalian: 1.753 billion U.S. dollars, up 11.1 percent. Exports, 961.682 million U.S. dollars, up 7.6 percent; imports, 791.316 million U.S. dollars, up 15.6 percent.

-- Qingdao: 1.726 billion U.S. dollars, up 29.5 percent. Exports, 1.050 billion U.S. dollars, up 32.2 percent; imports, 675. 551 million U.S. dollars, up 25.5 percent.

-- Ningbo: 1.173 billion U.S. dollars, up 23.8 percent. Exports, 805.193 million U.S. dollars, up 20.9 percent; imports, 367.985 million U.S. dollars, up 30.6 percent.

-- Fuzhou: 1.052 billion U.S.dollars, up 16.2 percent. Exports, 644.919 million U.S. dollars, up 14.9 percent; imports, 407.409 million U.S. dollars, up 18.4 percent.
