Robbers Disguised as Policemen Penalized in Fujian

The Intermediate People��s Court of Ningde City, Fujian Province, has meted our severe penalty to nine criminals for robbing 34 temples in the disguise of policemen.

The three principals including Xie Chengwang were sentenced to death on charges of robbery.

From August of 1998 to May of 2000, the nine criminals disguised themselves as policemen in pursuit of fugitives, broke into 34 temples and committed 37 crimes. They robbed 150 persons of a total of 80,000 yuan, as well as gold jewelry, TVs and Buddha statues, and injured

40 persons.

Other criminals were given death sentence with suspension, life imprisonment and fixed prison terms, respectively.
