Thousands Pray for Wahid Before Parliament Censure

More than 20,000 supporters of Indonesian President Abdurachman Wahid gathered in central Jakarta on Sunday to pray for the embattled leader a day before parliament is likely to censure him for the second time over two financial scandals.

Most of those who gathered to pray for the president hail from East Java province and belong to the country's largest Islamic organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), which Wahid chaired for more than 15 years before he took office in October 1999.
