New Party Secretary of Shenyang City Appointed

Zhang Xingxiang was recently named the secretary of the municipal committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of Shenyang City, the capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

According to a decision made by the CPC Central Committee, Zhang took office to replace his predecessor Xu Wencai.

Shenyang, one of the largest industrial cities in the country, has shocked by a series of gang crimes involving top city officials in recent years.

Zhang, who is concurrently a deputy secretary of the CPC provincial committee of Liaoning, was a delegate to the 15th CPC National Congress in 1997.
