China to Enhance Cooperation with WTCA in Attracting Overseas InvestmentChina welcomes overseas investors to carry out investment and financing projects here, and wishes to enhance cooperation with the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) in this regard, said State Councilor Wu Yi in a meeting with WTCA President Guy F. Tozzoli Friday.Wu Yi spoke highly of the WTCA's role in promoting trade, economic exchanges and cooperation among countries and regions of the world and in boosting the world's economic development. She also expressed thanks for Tozzoli's efforts in expanding the friendly cooperation between China and other WTCA members. During the meeting, Wu also briefed the guests on China's reform, opening up, economic development and the country's strategy for developing its western areas. Tozzoli said WTCA is willing to further expand the all-round cooperation with China in the new century, and briefed Wu on some future plans of the organization. Tozzoli and his delegation are here at the invitation of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Headquartered in New York, the WTCA is a non-governmental international organization to promote world trade. It has over 330 member cities across the world, and 19 Chinese cities have become WTCA members. CPPCC Vice-Chairman Meets Trade DelegationWang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met here Friday with a delegation led by Guy Tozzoli, president of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA).Wang, also head of China Overseas Friendship Association, spoke highly of the WTCA for its role in advancing economic globalization and its efforts to support China's entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Tozzoli said the WTCA is willing to strengthen contacts and cooperation with China. Formed in 1970, the WTCA is an non-governmental trade organization. At present, it has 19 city members in China. The delegation is here at the invitation of the CPPCC. Later today, Jing Shuping, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, also met with the delegation. |
