Ex-wife of China's Last Emperor DiesA funeral was held Thursday for Li Yuqin, a former wife of China's last emperor Aisin Giorro Pu Yi, in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province. She was 73.Li was selected to be the fourth wife of Pu Yi in 1943 when she was 15 years old. Pu Yi, who was forced to give up the throne in 1911, then was the "emperor" of the puppet Manchurian State controlled by Japanese invaders during World War II. Li and Pu Yi escaped away from Changchun, the capital of the puppet State, after Japanese surrendered on August 15, 1945. Pu Yi became a captive of former Soviet Union army. She had lived in Beijing for years after that. She became a librarian in Changchun in 1956. She and Pu Yi divorced two years later. Li later married a technician. Li was elected as a government advisor to Changchun City and Jilin Province in the 1980s. She was diagnosed as suffering cirrhosis of the liver in 1995.
