Number of Chinese Mobile Phone Users Tops 100 Million
Latest statistics from the Ministry of Information Industry show that with 15.048 million users newly added in the first quarter of this year, the total number of Chinese mobile phone users has exceeded 100 million.
During that period, China's communication service developed rapidly, with business income amounting to 89.55billion yuan, an increase of 17.3 percent over that of the same period last year. And the total number of telephone users reached 255 million in China, with the number of newly added users hitting 25.592 million, an average daily increase of 280,000 users,
However, along with the development of mobile communication, some 2.518 million pager users withdrew from this business in the first quarter of 2001, cutting the total number of pager users to 46.123 million by that time.
