Palestinian-Israeli Security Meeting Held in RamallahA Palestinian-Israeli security meeting was held Friday in West Bank city of Ramallah to discuss ways of easing violence in the Palestinian territories in the framework of security coordination talks between the two sides.Palestinian security sources said that the meeting was chaired by Haj Ismael Gabr, Palestinian chief of security forces in the West Bank, and Yitzhak Eitan, Israel Defense Forces central commander. No progress has been made, but both sides agreed to continue their talks, the sources said. The next meeting is expected to be held on Sunday. Friday's meeting was aimed at knowing how far the israeli side will stick to its previous commitments, especially lifting the security cordon imposed on the Palestinian territories, the sources added. Earlier friday, the Israeli army lifted a security cordon imposed on the West Bank and Gaza Strip during the Israeli Independence Day and allowed 4,000 Palestinian workers and traders to enter Israel. However, Palestinians without working permit are still barred from entering Israel. In another development, one Israeli soldier and a settler were injured in an explosion near Jush Kattif settlement on Friday. Also on Friday, a Palestinian, named Ismael Abu Rumeya, was shot at and seriously wounded near Israeli town of Kissufim, the israeli army said. The man is an activist of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement, or Hamas, and was hospitalized in Israeli town of Beersheba, it added.
