Red Cross Repatriates 1,114 Ethiopians From Eritrea
A total of 1,114 Ethiopians left Eritrea Friday for home under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), according to an ICRC press release available Friday in Addis Ababa.
The operation took place between the Eritrean town of Adi Quala and the Ethiopian town of Rama via the Mereb river, added the ICRC.
Ahead of the repatriation, the ICRC delegates in Eritrea held private interviews with the Ethiopian nationals to check their wish to return to their motherland.
The ICRC since last December has repatriated more than 12,200 Ethiopians from Eritrea, and it would continue to assist future repatriations of all remaining Prisoners of War as well as other persons affected by the war between the two countries.
