Electrification of the Shaoguan-Guangzhou section of the Wuhan-Guangzhou Railway has been completed, and the section will but put into operation Saturday.
The railway line from Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, to Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, is part of China's most important trunk line railway from Beijing to Guangzhou. The Ministry of Railways has invested a huge amount of money to electrify sections between Beijing and Shaoguan, a city in south Hunan Province.
The Shaoguan-Guangzhou railway is a state first-class railway with a designed transportation speed of 120 km/h and an improved transportation capacity of 42 million tons from the previous 16 million tons.
The overall electrification of the Wuhan-Guangzhou Railway will be completed before the end of this year, when the total Beijing- Guangzhou Line will be electrified and cut the running time down to 20 hours.
