Senior Chinese Official Meets IFBWW Guests"We are making intensive efforts to amend the Law on Trade Unions and improve the social security system," said Wei,a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau and member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. He briefed Ulf Asp, general secretary of the IFBWW, who is leading the delegation, on China's current political situation and the work of China's trade unions. Wei said China is safeguarding workers' legal rights by improving the systems of equal consultation, collective contract and workers' congresses. "We hope to enhance exchanges with the IFBWW, and promote friendship and cooperation," he said. Asp praised the great achievements China has made over the past few decades, adding that the IFBWW wants to further develop friendly relations with the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and trade unions in various industries.
