Premier Zhu to Visit Five Countries

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji will pay an official visit to Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand from May 11 to 22.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue made the announcement here Thursday afternoon at a routine press conference.

She said that during the visit, Zhu will have meetings and talks with the leaders of the five countries and extensive contact with other friends.

Zhu will also exchange views in-depth on bilateral relations, international and regional issues of common interest and further push forward the development of the good-neighborly cooperation between China and the five countries, added Zhang.

Zhu is invited by Chief Executive Pervez Musharaf of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala of the Kingdom of Nepal, President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom of the Republic of Maldives, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of the Kingdom of Thailand, she noted.
