Trade Fair Scores 15.8 Billion US Dollars in Deals

The 89th China Export Commodity Fair, which was held in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, netted business deals worth 15.8 billion US dollars in its 12-day session.

Hu Chusheng, general secretary of the trade fair, which closed Thursday, said that the volume of business was up by 5.4 percent and 15.6 percent over the 88th and 87th sessions, respectively.

According to Hu, daily consumer commodities and home appliances took the lion's share of the total export business deals struck at the fair to reach 11.2 billion US dollars.

Some 111,886 people visited the fair, up 6.5 percent from the 88th session, said Hu, adding that the volume of export goods going to the Gulf nations and Russia saw the fastest growth, while exports to Asian countries and regions had an average growth of 10.5 percent, despite dismal exports to the United States and Europe.
