Chinese State Councilor Meets ROK Minister

Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi met Thursday with a Republic of Korea (ROK) delegation led by commerce, industry and energy minister Chang Che-Shik.

"We hope more ROK businessmen will invest in China and take part in the development of the vast regions in west China," said Wu.

Wu, who met Chang on behalf of Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, said the visit will help promote the development of the relationship between the two countries.

She also handed over a letter from Zhu to ROK President Kim Dae-jung.

Chang is visiting China as guest of foreign trade minister Shi Guangsheng. The two countries are holding trade talks in Beijing and Shanghai.

Chang said China has made admirable achievements over the past few years and his delegation has procured a number of goods from China.

Wu also expressed the hope that the ROK government could work to resolve the imbalance of trade between the two neighboring countries.
