Lee Teng-hui Unwelcome in Japan: FM Spokeswoman

Lee Teng-hui was not welcome in Japan, his visit was confined and his vicial political intention was detected by more and more people, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Thursday.

At a regular press conference here Thursday, Zhang said that Lee Teng-hui is the top representative of "Taiwan independence" forces and his visit to Japan itself is a serious political issue.

The Japanese government allowing Lee to visit Japan has damaged the political foundation for Sino-Japan relations, the spokeswoman stressed.
