Russia Renews Extradition Request for Press Tycoon

The Spanish government Wednesday received another extradition request from Russia for its press tycoon Vladimir Gusinski.

The request, issued by the Attorney General's Office of Russia, came after Spain's National Audience turned down a prior one, according to diplomatic sources here.

Local reports said Gusinski arrived Wednesday in Israel, of which he also bears citizenship, on a private plane coming from Gibraltar. Gusinski traveled from his Sotogrande residence, in San Roque, Cadiz, in southern Spain, after being released Monday when the National Audience denied the extradition request from Moscow, where he is accused of racket.

The Attorney General's Office of Russia requested the presence of Gusinski, who is the owner of Media Most, to face new charges against him for money laundering.
