Beijing Hi-tech Week to Highlight Cutting-edge Technologies

Beijing will exhibit a large number of advanced technologies developed by hi-tech enterprises in different industries at the upcoming Fourth Beijing International Hi-tech Week, scheduled for May 10-15.

Bio-medicine will be a focus of noted Chinese and overseas experts in pharmaceutics and gene technologies, who will hold talks on the development of bio-tech parks and pharmaceutical valleys as well as other related topics.

Advanced construction technologies, equipment and new materials will also be on show at the week-long event, and international investors are welcome to cooperate with Chinese enterprises in Beijing's urban infrastructure construction, real estate and many other sectors, event organizers said.

A 200 sq. m. booth area will be used to show Beijing's hi-tech equipment in sports games and gymnasium construction, in a move to support Beijing's bid to host the 2008 Olympic Games.

An exhibition highlighting Beijing's hi-tech accomplishments during the Ninth Five-Year Plan period (1996-2000) will help visitors to get a comprehensive understanding about what efforts Beijing has made to improve its industrial, agricultural and social standards.
