Arrest Warrant Issued for Philippine Ex-President

Philippine anti-graft court has issued a warrant to arrest deposed president Joseph Estrada on a plunder case charge Wednesday, a court spokesman said.

The arrest warrant was issued following the third division of the anti-graft court declared that they have found possible cause for the latest move, Presiding Justice Francis Garchitorena told a press conference at the anti-graft court.

The arrest warrant is still on its way to serve to Estrada and police are cramming to the residence of Estrada at Green Hills in San Juan, Metro Manila, where thousands of Estrada's supporters crowded to protect anti-graft sheriff from implementing the warrant service.

The plunder charge, a non-bailable offensive punishable by death penalty, is a combination of the cases filed earlier by the Office of Ombudsman, Garchitorena added.

Estrada has also been embattled by other corruption cases after he was ousted by a military-backed popular revolt in January.
