Pak-Afghan Joint Committee to Talk on Criminals Issue
The first ever meeting of a high-powered Pak-Afghan Joint Committee will be held during mid- May in Kabul in order to sort out all mutual concerns between the two countries, including the exchange of wanted criminals, a local newspaper, The News, reported Wednesday.
Quoting sources with the Interior Ministry, the report said both Islamabad and Kabul were in contact to get the date finalized for this meeting, so that the two sides could agree to a solution to all outstanding issues.
It said that top items on Pakistan's agenda for discussion with Kabul include the return of the most wanted sectarian killers, currently hiding in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, other pending issues like closing of border by regulating cross border movement, transit trade, anti-smuggling would be discussed by the joint committee.
The Pak-Afghan joint committee was set up in February 2001 during Pakistani Interior Minister Moinuddin Raider's visit to Kabul.
