Zambian President's Third Term Issue Not to Erode Investors' Confidence

Zambian Finance Minister Katele Kalumba said Tuesday that the current debate on whether President Frederick Chiluba should go for a third term of office will not erode the investment confidence of the country's cooperating partners.

Speaking at a press conference held at his office, Kalumba said that the government will allocate funds for a referendum about Chiluba's third term.

Meanwhile, the minister also announced that Zambia is ready for the coming International Monetary Fund (IMF) Consultative Group meeting.

According to Kalumba, the IMF last week approved 126 million U. S. dollars for Zambia following successful reviews. He said the approval of the money by the IMF is a good signal that foreign countries have confidence in Zambia.
