Senior Official Meets Japanese "Glory Project" Delegation

A senior official met a delegation from the China Glory Project Japanese Promotion Association (CGPJPA) Tuesday.

Wang Zhaoguo, president of the China Glory Project Promotion Association and Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), welcomed the CGPJPA's first trip to China since it was established in 2000.

Wang encouraged the CGPJPA to make more tours to China so as to contribute more to the development of the anti-poverty Glory Project.

Wang said that China will continue to develop its new and high- tech enterprises and further the Western Development Project, which provides abundant investment opportunities to overseas Chinese.

He hopes that the CGPJPA give full play to its strengths and further the cooperation with its Chinese counterparts.

The CGPJPA was initiated by Japan-based Chinese people to help China's poverty-relief work in underdeveloped middle and western regions through various forms of cooperation.

The China Glory Project was launched in 1994 by private businesspeople. Some 3,500 private entrepreneurs have so far joined in the project, funding 3,829 projects with more than 10 billion yuan of investment.
