IWTO 70th International Conference to Be Held in Shanghai

The 70th international conference of the International Wool Textile Organization (IWTO) will be convened in Shanghai May 11-16.

That was announced here Tuesday by a spokesman from the China Wool Textile Association.

According to the spokesman, more than 400 people from 25 countries and one international organization, including the chairpeople of the boards of general managers from many foreign wool textile companies, wool businesspeople, technical representatives of international testing organizations and scientific workers with research organizations will attend the conference.

The conference will feature the theme of "retrospect of the international wool textile industry in the 20th century and prospects in the 21st century". During the conference, a number of forums will be organized to discuss the present situation, challenges, opportunities of the world's wool textile industry, its scientific and technological development trends, as well as a development blueprint in the 21st century.

Headquartered in London, the IWTO, founded in 1920, is an international organization that studies and coordinates the processing and production of the wool textile industry and related trading issues among its members.

The IWTO now has 25 members which represent 24 countries and one international organization. China became a member of the IWTO in March 1998.
