Lee Could Have Been Treated in Taiwan, Japanese SurgeonLee Teng-hui could have been treated in Taiwan from purely medical point of view, said the Japanese heart surgeon on Monday who is to conduct check-up for Lee.When asked about if Lee could have been treated in Taiwan, Kazuaki Mitsudo, the surgeon, said : "that might have been an option," reported Kyodo News. Mitsudo heads the circulatory organs department at the Kurashiki Central Hospital in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture in western Japan where Lee will have his check-up, it reported. Japan granted Lee the entry visa last Friday, which drew strong protest by China. Japan insisted that it granted the visa to Lee, a chief backstage supporter of the "Taiwan independence" forces, on the grounds of "purely humanitarian". Lee is nothing but a political figure, and his visit can by no means be interpreted as a matter of humanitarianism, analysts said. Though Japan demanded Lee to refrain from conducting political activities and limit his stay inside Kurashiki, Lee's tour still encourages the forces prone to Taiwan independence, they said. |
