Female Mummy Dating 1,000 Years back Found in Tibet

A female Mummy dating back to 1,000 years has been found in a mountain about 5,000 meters above sea level in Tibet, known as the "roof the world."

The woman was probably a nun who practiced Buddhism in a cave.

The mummy was found by villagers of Jiba Village, Tarong Town, in Nimu County. She is believed to hide herself under a giant rock, which was sealed by stone slabs all around.

The woman was 65 cm tall. Her muscle tissue has already been airslaked, but her skin tissue of eyes and ears remain. The eyes and feet of the woman are intact by and large. Her body is wrapped up by cloth and silk.

It is a custom for Buddhism believers in Tibet in ancient times to practice Buddhism in a hiding place on a mountain. They ate little food and drank water to sustain their lives. Their bodies were kept in caves after they die.
