Czech Republic, China Have Sound Reasons to Enhance Ties: PM
The Czech Republic and China have sound reasons to further develop their friendly cooperation and exchanges, Czech Prime Minister Milos Zeman told visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan Monday.
After recalling his visit to China in 1999, Zeman said there is no pending political problems between the Czech Republic and China. He expressed his country's willingness to explore new approaches in improving economic and trade relations between the two countries.
Zeman reiterated the Czech Republic's adherence to the "one China" policy and said his country respects China's territorial integrity.
Tang arrived here Saturday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Czech counterpart Jan Kavan.
Tang appreciated Zeman's restatement of the "one China" policy and said the Chinese government and people always respect the Czech people's choice of ways of development.
China is delighted by the progress the Czech Republic had made in developing its national economy and raising the living standard of its people and it is willing to see the Czech Republic play a more positive role in regional and international affairs, said Tang.
The Chinese people will never forget that the Czech Republic is among the first countries to recognize the People's Republic of China and establish diplomatic ties with it. During the past 50 years and more, the two countries have enjoyed solid and healthy growth in their bilateral ties, said Tang.
Tang met with Kavan Monday morning to exchange views on bilateral relations and other significant issues of mutual concern. He also called upon Chairman of the Czech Senate Petr Pithart Monday afternoon.
