Overseas Bankers Join Everbright Bank

Overseas bankers from the City Bank, HSBC and other renowned banks in the world has taken opportunity to join the Everbright Bank of China, in contrast to the prevailing idea of inevitable banking talent drain as China approaches to the WTO.

Officials with the Everbright said here Saturday that some dozens of overseas bankers have joined its branches in Shanghai, Beijing, Xiamen and Nanjing. One-third of them have taken important positions.

The official attributed the inflow of talent to Everbright's efforts in building an efficient and vital stimulating mechanism, including reforms of performance and appraisal system.

Founded in 1992, Everbright is China's only State-controlled commercial bank with international shares. It has nearly 300 offices around the country and ranked No. 300 among the 1,000 big banks in the world.
