Early Publicity of Medicine Prices Required in China
The State Development Planning Commission announced today that the prices of medicines and related policies made by the Chinese government will have to be publicized five to seven days before they take effect.
All medicine producers and hospitals should strictly keep in line with the official policies and prices released via the designated media, the commission said in a circular dispatched to local governments.
The measure is being taken to enhance timeliness and transparency of official policies and pricing, and strengthen public supervision over medicine prices, the commission said.
Any company or hospital which breaks the rule will be punished by price supervision authorities, according to the circular.
Media organizations designated by the commission include two websites (www.cei.gov.cn and www.cpic.gov.cn), the China Economic Herald, the Health News, the China Medicine Newspaper, the Pharmaceutical Economy Newspaper, the network edition of the Journal of Theory and Practice on Prices and the Price Bulletins.
