Xinjiang Cracks Major Family-Based Drug trafficking Case

Police in Urumqi, capital city of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has cracked a major family-based drug trafficking case.

Ma Hong, a 61-year-old woman of the Hui ethnic group, has been dealing in drugs since 1995. She formed a drug-trafficking group with her family members as the chief culprits.

Ma Hong and her six family members all sold drugs and became the leading drug wholesaler in Urumqi. In one year alone ending in February, they made a profit of two million yuan by trafficking drugs.

Public officers recently arrested five members of the gang, namely Ma Hong, Ma Yousu, Ma Yufang, Tong Yumei and Liu Shixing, confiscating 1,524 grams of heroin and a huge sum of money made from drug-trafficking.
