China Export Commodity Fair Attracts More Visitors

The 89th China Export Commodity Fair, which is going on in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, has attracted more visitors than in previous ones.

A total of 68,104 people had arrived for the fair by last weekend, a rise of 6.13 percent from the previous fair, and most of the visitors are from Asian countries, said a source from the fair organizing committee.

Though the number of visitors from Europe dropped by 4.93 percent totaling 8,304, that of participating businessmen from America) increased by 26.72 percent to reach 7,578

The fair began on April 15 and will last for 12 days.

Business deals worth 6.25 billion U.S. dollars were struck in the first six days of the fair, up 11.3 percent from the 88th fair and 33 percent from the 87th fair, with machinery and electronic products making up 41 percent of the deals.

Transactions of scientific and technological items have increased, but business deals for traditional commodities such as foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and raw materials have dropped from past years.
