Zhouzhuang Staged in Hollywood

"Pavilion of Women", a Hollywood film shot in the world known water town--Zhouzhuang, which is located in Kunshan City, 30km to the southeast of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province, was showed in Suzhou and the US on April 20.

"Pavilion of Women", which was adapted from Pearl S��Buck's novel, tells a love story happened in a small town in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtse River in the 1930s of the 20th century.

It was invested and shot by Universal Focus and Beijing Film Studio jointly, with Ho Yim as director from Hong Kong, Willen Dafoe starred as leading actor from Hollywood, and Luo Yan as leading actress and also playwright and producer of the film.

Zhouzhuang has its repute linked to Chen Yifei's famous painting "Memory of Hometown"--Double Bridge in Zhouzhuang. More tourists will be attracted to the place for the film put on show.

"Pavilion of Women" is reported being the first Hollywood film produced by Chinese independently, also the first film disclosing Japanese troops' invasion and describing Chinese educated women in modern times.
