Carrefour to Further Expand its Business in China

"Carrefour is aiming at over 30 cities in Chinese market. It will open more stores in Beijing." Jean-Luc Cheau, president of Carrefour (China) recently made a special trip to Beijing to attend the "2001 Beijing-Paris International Metropolis Commercial Program and Development Seminar" sponsored by Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce.

When asked whether Carrefour will further expand its business in China, Jean-Luc Cheau answered firmly,"sure".

Irrespective of the issue of Carrefour's operation against regulations, which have been bubbled with incessant hues and dins, Jean-Luc Cheau held his tongue all the time. However, Carrefour was still the only foreign-funded enterprise invited to attend and give a keynote lecture at the seminar sponsored by governmental administrations.

Jean-Luc Cheau indicated Carrefour has already had an experience of six years in operation in Beijing and opened four stores here. The popular welcome is the solid foundation for its development in the country and Carrefour is full of confidence in developing its business in Beijing.
